Who can stand the pressure?

by Mario
(BIH)

Even from the days before official opening ceremony, pressure started to build up.

Picture of the cougar strolling along the ski track went around the world.

I've read in more than one newspaper that athletes were given a spray against bears before they moved into their apartments in Olympic village.

Many journalists took this as a joke and mentioned it as a side-line funny notch.

But after the cougar took a walk, they realized that it was not a big joke, but real threat.

One day before opening, a tragic death of Georgian luger happened while he was training.

And you can say whatever you will, that fact was the highlight of opening ceremony.

Even the problems with lighting up the flame weren't much talked about. And after that, first news was postponing ski race because of weather conditions.

And it seems that many events will be postponed due to weather.

I believe that best athletes in this Olympics will be the ones with strongest mental power.

Ones who are not "spoiled" and are used to bad conditions, to postponing, to all kind of stresses.

So, if I needed to place a bet, I would go to with nations that have history of "work, order and discipline", like Russia, Ukraine, countries from ex Soviet Block and Germany, for which I believe will be the surprises of this Olympics.
