Vancouver Wheelchair Access Ramps

You’ll find wheelchair access ramps on all the street corners in Vancouver.

When you land at the Vancouver BC airport, you’ll be happy to see that Vancouver is 20 years ahead of the rest of Canada and much of the world when it comes to providing the same access for everyone who lives here as well as those on a Vancouver vacations.

For most of the population of Vancouver, we don't give it a second though because we expect everyone to have equal access!

Public Transportation

You’ll find a wheelchair lift ramp on most of the Vancouver public transit services also most Vancouver taxi companies (Vancouver airport transportation permits require this) have a number of handicap accessible vans

You’ll also find wheelchair access ramps in all the government buildings in the city including the Vancouver school district and Vancouver university locations such as:

1. UBC Vancouver (University of British Columbia)
2. SFU (Simon Fraser University downtown campus)
3. Private schools like the Vancouver film school

Vancouver Alaska Cruise Wheelchair Access

Vancouver Alaska Cruise ships also provide wheelchair access as well as wheelchair lift ramp access throughout the ships.

Some of the rooms (berths) on the ship also have handicap showers for the wheelchair bound people so they’ll enjoy their Alaskan cruise and Vancouver vacations just as much as everyone else.

Access Ramps in Vancouver BC Hotels

All of the downtown Vancouver hotels such as the Pan Pacific Hotel (Vancouver) and Sutton Place Hotel (Vancouver) have access ramps as well as handicap grab bars in the washrooms (toilet) in them.

If you require many of the downtown hotels in Vancouver also have special rooms designed for the wheelchair bound visitor that have special handicap bathrooms equipped with handicap showers (roll in shower) and many handicap grab bars installed around the suite.

As you’ll see when you visit Stanley Park, English Bay or beaches and enjoying some Vancouver day trips to places like Victoria or the Harrison Lake Sandcastles you’ll quickly see that there are many wheelchair access ramps and lift ramps in place to help make your Vancouver vacation one that you’ll remember for the rest of your life!
