Vancouver Weather

Vancouver (pronounced "Vancoover") has the best weather in all of Canada. Palm trees can even grow here!

If you plan to visit between May and September you can pretty much be assured of excellent weather.

During the summer, the sun sets around 9 P.M. and dusk lasts until 10:00 P.M. Then it starts getting light again with dawn beginning around 4:15 A.M.

Once fall hits though it starts to rain...and rain...and rain!  (actually it's more like a monsoon season).

Vancouver may get some of the most rain in the country but we also get the most rainbows and at least you don't have to shovel rain.

At the same time as all the rain there's lots of snow on the local mountains for skiing or snowboarding.

The best time to come for a ski holiday is February. Vancouver is well known for its great ski conditions at that time of year.

In the city it rarely dips below freezing.

Snow is unusual and a major windstorm in 2007 caused havoc

When it does snow it leads to major traffic snarls and congestion.

Usually our spring starts in mid to late March.

All the trees and flowers begin to blossom and there's a gentle offshore breeze.

In all the neighborhoods the cherry and plum blossoms blow around dancing in the air as if they were pink snowflakes falling (my kind of winter!)
