Walking the Seawall

Walking the seawall in Stanley Park is the number one recreational activity for locals and visitors alike.

Walking the seawall in Stanley Park

The most peaceful time to walk the seawall is in the early morning when not too many people are up and around yet and the most distraction you’re likely to get is from the seagulls.

You may also see rowing teams from the Vancouver (pronounced “Vancoover”) Rowing Club out practicing then.

Moderate temperatures in the springtime make the 8 kilometer (5 mile) walk around the entire seawall the most comfortable I think, and when the cherry and plum trees start to blossom and it’s a lovely sight to see.

In the summertime the seawall can get very crowded. Not only are people walking the seawall but there’s also all the cyclists and roller skaters (good thing they have their own lane).

The good weather lasts usually until the end of September and then the rain starts to come.

And...as long as you dress for the weather walking the seawall is kind of refreshing.

No matter when or what time of year it is, a brisk walk or a casual stroll around the seawall is a pleasurable activity.
