Vancouver Winter

Vancouver winter (pronounced “vancoover”) conditions are typically rainy and wet. And, because Vancouver is on the west coast, sometimes it gets referred to as the city on the “wet” coast.

Winter temperatures seldom dip below freezing and it hardly ever snows. Usually if it does happen to snow it doesn’t last long but every once in awhile this happens...

Snow, I mean snow! flakes of snow.

This tree lined neighborhood street in Vancouver makes a beautiful picture all covered in a blanket in snow.

Lovely as it is to look at, what this means is that you can count on major traffic headaches and countless fender-bender accidents because Vancouverites have mastered rain but we don’t really know how to drive in the snow.

But never mind driving in the snow check this out.

Snow or not this motorbike driver is showing a true Vancouver spirit of adventure that either makes you shake your head or bring a smile to your face.

All this snow in the city means beautiful powdery conditions up on the local mountains for skiers and snowboarders.

With Vancouver and Whistler hosting the Winter Olympics in 2010 this is the kind of Vancouver winter we’ll be looking for then.
