Vancouver Winter 2010 Vancouver On the World Stage Again

Vancouver Winter 2010 will see the city and Whistler host the Winter Olympic Games and the Paralympics Winter Games.

Whistler B.C. is a few hours along the Sea To Sky Highway from Vancouver. The way up is a very scenic route as you drive by smaller towns like Squamish, Britannia Beach and Britannia Mines where you can sometimes see bald eagles swimming in the ocean.

The Winter Olympic sports held in Vancouver are the reasons that we're getting new:

  • ice skating rinks
  • curling rinks
  • hockey rinks and speed skating facilities in Vancouver proper as well as in the suburbs for future generations to enjoy the winter sports

There will be television networks from all over the world covering these events during the Vancouver Winter 2010 Games.

The last time Vancouver stepped on the world stage and into the limelight as a world-class city was during the World Expo of 1986 or "Expo 86" as it was called.

Once again Vancouver steps into the limelight showing that it is a world class city.

We have been making preparations for years with a new rapid transit system to take you from the airport directly into to the city and Vancouver airport improvements to expand the airport.

With all the new hotels and accommodations in the city Vancouver with its population of just over 2 million people expects to almost double during Vancouver Winter 2010.

Of course many of the people who come here during the winter will also want to see the natural beauty of the city and return in the summer and the spring and the fall.

Below is a photograph of the statue that looks over English Bay that has also become the symbol of the Vancouver Winter 2010 Olympic Games.

I'm sure that many thousands or even hundreds of thousands of people will either see this statue in person and have a pictures taken of it or see it televised around the world.
