Vancouver Taxis

Vancouver taxis (pronounced “Vancoover”) can be an adventure in themselves.

Not saying that they are bad but, let’s just say the Vancouver taxis in have room for improvement! Mostly the taxis here are very much like you’d find in any major city in Canada or North America for that matter.

There are some very good drivers who love their job picking up passengers from the airport or from the Cruise Ship Terminal who are arriving from all over the world and taking them to their hotel or driving them around so they can see the why Vancouver is the best city in the world with all the sights to see and things to do in the city.

While some people like to hire or rent a car some prefer to hire a taxi to show them around.

So if you’d rather not worry about parking (which will get even harder to find during the 2010 Olympic Winter Games here) a taxi is a great option to see the sights like Stanley Park, museums, art galleries. Or, instead of a limousine ride to the symphony or the theatre you can take a more cost effective taxi.

One thing though please make sure that you check the change you get back from the taxi driver as some tend to forget that a tip is for “services rendered” and not a right of passage or part of the amount due for their standard service.

Most of Vancouver taxi drivers are quite good but there are a few individuals who may not be as good as the others. If you are staying in one of Vancouver’s 5 star hotels or one of the others you may find that they prefer some taxi companies over others which makes it a good idea to ask the staff at your hotel which taxi company they suggest.
