Using a Vancouver Road Map

When looking for a Vancouver road map, I suggest you buy a city street indexed map this way you can read all the streets in the city as well as in the suburbs just in case you want to take a day trip out of the city proper.

These are the best road maps to use for getting around the city. Just make sure that you get the newest version and you can tell by looking at the date that it was printed.

New Vancouver road maps are printed each year so make sure you get the current year because the city occasionally changes the traffic patterns making one-way streets two direction and even changing the direction of one-way streets from time to timeÖ donít worry itís only done once in a while so you wonít find yourself going the wrong way down a one way street that that you went in the other direction yesterday!

Many people from truck drivers to taxi drivers who are all over the city use a Vancouver road map to quickly find a specific area of the city that they want to go to so donít be afraid to ask for directions, if you get mixed up or lost, the people are always ready and willing to help you figure out where you want to go.

A good idea to do is to trace out where you want to go to on your Vancouver road map with a pencil and then follow your route and if you get turned around or make a wrong turn it will be easier to get back in the right direction or for someone to show you where you are and maybe even give you a short-cut to get there.

I remember a couple who decided to drive from Seattle to Vancouver (about a 4 hour drive) for a day trip and got mixed up and needed directions to downtown so we both pulled over and parked and as soon as I saw their road map knew why they got lost, they had a 5 year old map.

Instead of trying to give them directions on their out-of-date Vancouver road map, I just had them follow me to where they wanted to go. They were quite surprise that anyone would take the time to help a tourist that much but I just told them that Vancouver is just a very special city which means that the people here are special too! (At least in my own mind!)

So when you come to the city, and are planning to get a rental car donít forget to ask them for a Vancouver road map and if you get lost, just ask someone to point you in the right direction and youíll be well on your way exploring all the shopping there is to do, seeing the best places and must see places in Vancouver.
