Vancouver real estate market in Vancouver is doing well to say the least

Everywhere you look old buildings are coming down and new ones are going up…both residential and commercial.

The growth has a lot to do with sprucing the city up and getting ready for the Winter Olympic Games being hosted by Vancouver (pronounced "Vancouver") and Whistler in 2010.

The hottest market is for condominiums. It has become very prestigious to live in a condo or a loft downtown even though some of the units at 400 square feet are not much bigger than a postage stamp.

It’s not unusual for there to be over-night line ups once a new condo project has been announced and for all the units in say a 30 story condominium tower to be completely sold out before the ground has even been broken to begin construction.

But who can really blame people for loving the urban lifestyle of living downtown in a beautiful city close to all the shopping, theatres, parks and beaches.

There are a few reasons for buying. Empty nesters are buying because they are downsizing. Younger people are buying because they think they will never be able afford to own a house and decide to buy a condo while they still can and still other people are buying strictly as investments.

The Vancouver real estate market has also become very popular with people from other countries who are buying a condo in the city like they would a vacation home so they have some place to stay when they come here to visit.
