Vancouver Planetarium
The Vancouver Planetarium is over at Vanier Park next door to the Maritime Museum.
Out in front of the planetarium is a giant crab. I don’t know how they went from the planetarium to a giant crab unless it for the astrology sign cancer. They have shows for kids and for adults about the stars and the solar system. The other nice thing about it is that the also have light shows where they take popular musical groups and play their music and have a laser light show which is very cool. Back when I was in high school they had a Pink Floyd laser light show this was before Star Wars came so laser lights and laser swords were just coming in to being. Sometimes if something particularly exciting or unusual is happening in space the planetarium people will bring their telescopes outside right on the sidewalk and you can take a peek through them. They will answer your questions and are very enthusiastic about explaining what's going on. The Vancouver planetarium is a really great place and they also have a mock up that’s like being on a space station. So if you’re with your kids or if you’re a big kid yourself you can go there and you’re on a space station its not exactly the USS Enterprise from Star Trek and its not the Andromeda from the TV show Andromeda but its quite interesting and it gives you an idea of what it would be like living in space.
