Spend the Day Shopping at a Vancouver Mall

Deciding which Vancouver mall to visit depends on what, exactly, you’re looking for.

Pacific Center Mall

The largest and most well-known Vancouver mall is Pacific Centre Mall. Pacific Centre is centrally located in downtown and offers some of the best shopping in Vancouver.

For anyone who enjoys shopping then Pacific Centre should be at the top of your list of things to do in Vancouver.

This mall includes brand-name stores such as BCBG, Guess, and Hugo Boss, as well as cosmetic stores such as Sephora, electronics such as Apple and Bose, and typical “anchor” stores such as Sears.

Pacific Centre Mall is easily accessible since it is within walking distance of most downtown Vancouver hotels and by multiple methods of the Vancouver transit system.

Perhaps the most unique part of Pacific Centre is that most of its 100 stores are underground, which is nice when the weather in Vancouver is a bit rainy or cold.

The entire complex is connected to the Vancouver Centre Mall, the Four Seasons Vancouver Hotel, The Bay department store, and two skytrain stations; making it one of the most easily accessible malls in all of Vancouver.

You could easily spend a day here without ever stepping outside!

Shopping on Robson Street

The other most well-known Vancouver mall is the Robson Street mall. The opposite of Pacific Centre, this “mall” is actually a collection of outdoor shops covering several blocks along Robson Street.

This is the heart of Vancouver shopping; with everything from brand name stores (Armani Exchange, Bebe, Guess, Club Monaco, Banana Republic) to Vancouver favorites such as Le Chateau and Aritzia. There are shoes stores, cosmetic stores, and even hair salons.

Robson Street also offers plenty of souvenir shops, so you can do some shopping for yourself and pick up your Vancouver gifts for those back home at the same time.

When you need to take a break from your shopping, there is a wide variety of restaurants to choose from.

Your choices include everything from “grab & go” to upscale white tablecloth; and cuisines including Italian, Greek, Indian, Mexican, and everything in between.

It is important to realize that Robson Street itself is a rather long street; but only the blocks between Burrard Street and Jervis offer the shopping (this area is also sometimes referred to as Robsonstrasse).

Robson Street is within walking distance from most downtown hotels; and nearly every downtown bus will go by Robson.

You can also take the skyTrain and get off at either the Burrard Street or Granville stations, or take the seabus to Waterfront Station.

As an important side note for visitors to Canada and an incentive to do more shopping if you spend over CAN$200 on accommodation and tour packages while in Vancouver, you can apply for a refund of the goods and services tax (GST) and the harmonized sales tax (HST).

Visit this government page for more information: Visitors to Canada - GST/HST refund for visitors.

With plenty of choices and a tax refund, there is no excuse not to take advantage of Vancouver’s great shopping!
