Vancouver Aquarium

The Vancouver Aquarium (pronounced “Vancoover”) is a major Stanley Park attraction and a wonderful family activity.

The aquarium is open everyday of year. Summer hours are 9:30am until 7:00pm and winter hours are 9:30am until 5:00pm.

The best time to go to avoid crowds is before 11:00 in the morning or after 3:00 in the afternoon.

Vancouver Aquarium

All day long it’s non stop entertainment. Some of the things to do are watch the Beluga whale show.

I’m always amazed at how the whales swallow a bucket full of fish whole!

You can also see the aquarium staff feed the sea otter and learn about fish on the west coast or learn about many of the other 20,000 animals that are at the aquarium like frogs, seahorses and octopus.

What’s really cool is the aquarium has a number of tanks where you can see the animals from both above and below.

While you’re at the aquarium you can stop for a snack at the "Up Stream" café or do some shopping for books, jewelry, clothing and other Vancouver souvenirs at the "Clam Shell" gift shop.

Money from both the café and the gift shop helps the aquarium with research and conservation programs.

What’s really great about the Vancouver Aquarium are some of the other activities that you can arrange like the program where you can sleep over next to the beluga tank.
