Vancouver Amphitheatre

The Vancouver amphitheatre (pronounced "Vancoover or Vankoover") has been around for many, many years the first one that I remember going to was in Stanley Park and it’s still there!

It has been the host for many things all the way from choir singers to modern pop rock singers and all points in between.

Stanley Park Vancouver Amphitheatre

In my younger years the city’s entertainers used to put on plays here in the evening, most of them were musicals.

We’d go for a walk on the Stanley Park seawall or walk through the zoo and aquarium area then go to the amphitheatre to see the play.

Believe it or not, back in those days they put them on at the Vancouver amphitheatre and had free admission! (Hard to believe in this day and age but they did).

The city person in charge of parking in the park must have been sad not to be able to charge for parking during Vancouver amphitheatre events (just kidding).

The most modern Vancouver amphitheatre in the city area is actually not in the city proper but is in a suburb called Cloverdale.

Cloverdale also is the host for the world famous "Cloverdale Stampede" which is held in every year in late spring. The "Cloverdale Millennium amphitheatre" is host to the entertainment for the stampede not counting the cowboy events that is.

Driving to the Cloverdale amphitheatre takes about 30 minutes while getting to the Vancouver 's smaller amphitheatre is just 5 – 10 minutes from most of the downtown hotels. Keep in mind that the Vancouver's amphitheatre in Stanley Park is still used just as much these days especially during the summer with lots of out-door concerts and the amphitheatre and is still wonderful to go to when it is open.

They also perform “theatre Under the Stars” nice name because it was so true when they have shows on at night under the stars.
