Vancouver Airport

Vancouver Airport (pronounced “vancoover”) is a treat to return home to or arrive at for the first time.

I love returning home from an international trip. As you follow the signs through to Customs and Immigration you’ll be greeted by one of several amazing native sculptures in the airport and a waterfall that’s very calming and seems to be welcoming you to Vancouver.

This sculpture is in the departure area before you go through the gates to catch your flight.

People like to spend time with friends and family here before they depart and maybe take some last minute farewell pictures.

In this area are food concessions booths and stores where you can shop for gifts and souvenirs. There's also banking and internet access.

Once you’re through Customs and Immigration you can pick up your bags right away.

The way to tell where your bags are is to look at the screen above each baggage carousel and they’ll say which flight the bags are from.

Then you can grab a free cart for your luggage.

From there you go through to what’s called the "International Reception Lobby" which is a lot like walking down a red carpet at a fabulous gala. Your friends and family will be lined up all along the walk eagerly anticipating your safe arrival.

Once you’re in the arrivals lobby of the Vancouver airport you can do banking or foreign exchange and then go outside to catch a cab, limousine or bus from the Vancouver Airport to your hotel.

One level down which is also where you arrive from a domestic flight and you can find out about buses to Victoria (a sight-seeing trip from Vancouver), pick up all kinds of brochures and tourist information or find out about whereever you are may be headed.

You can also take a shuttle to a nearby hotel or take the "airporter" bus into downtown Vancouver or hop on public transit or see about renting a car.

From here it’s coastal mountains, stunning views, amazing attractions and fabulous food.
