Shiro Restaurant Vancouver
Shiro is a bustling little Japanese restaurant on Cambie Street in Vancouver (pronounced “Vancoover”). This lively spot is a favorite in the neighborhood to go for sushi. You can either be seated at a table or sit at the sushi bar at the centre of all the activity if you prefer. I always enjoy watching the chefs at work creating their edible art. When we were there the place was packed which is not hard to do at Shiro because it only seats maybe 50 people. The food here is really fabulous and just seems to melt in your mouth. You can get all the favorite classics here like chicken karage, gyoza, tempura, cones and California rolls made with real crab instead of the imitation stuff. A couple of other great things are that at Shiro they make their own wasabi and you can really taste the difference. Another touch is the sushi rice is served at a nice temperature that is slightly warm. And the sushi pieces are a comfortable size where you can pop them in your mouth without all the stuffing falling out all over the place. There are plenty of places to have sushi in Vancouver. You can even pick some up in the grocery store. But for fresh, expertly prepared sushi Shiro is one to definitely try. With more than 5,000 places to eat, Vancouver is considered one of the top places on the continent to have a meal out for both variety and quality. If you're hungry for something other than Casual, here are a few other of Vancouver's best. We've included a list of our favorites (including Shiro) of Casual, Chinese Food/ Dim Sum, Latin American/Caribbean, French, Indian, Mediterranean, Sushi, Tapas, Thai, Vegetarian, West Coast Casual and if you're into some fine dining, we've listed our own West Coast Fine Dining too...
