Stay at the Sheraton Vancouver Wall Centre

At 48 storeys tall the Sheraton Vancouver Wall Centre was the first building in Vancouver to reach the 150m (492 ft) mark.

At the time the hotel was being built City Planners were concerned about such a tall building dominating the Vancouver skyline. The developers had to agree to keep it a light color so it would blend in with the sky.

As other downtown Vancouver hotels and residences are being built the Sheraton is no longer a lone sentinel soaring above all the other buildings. It has dropped to second and soon third tallest building in downtown Vancouver.

The actually building is called One Wall Centre Tower. The Sheraton Hotel occupies the first 27 floors of the building.

The 28th, 29th and 30th floors belong to Club Intrawest that operates luxury resort properties like Whistler Blackcomb Resort which is a venue for the 2010 Olympic Games. The rest of the floors are private condominiums.

The Sheraton Vancouver provides everything that you need for a luxury or romantic Vancouver vacation.

The guestrooms have floor to ceiling windows with amazing views of the city core and surrounding mountains.

There's a luxurious spa, a health club, salon, restaurants and a wine store. You could literally visit Vancouver for the weekend and never leave the hotel.

But if you do want to get out you are close to major attractions and entertainment including world class shopping and dining at trendy cafes and restaurants only minutes away on Robson Street and Yaletown.

Come for the weekend from Thursday to Sunday and plan full days of sight-seeing activities at Stanley Park, Granville Island or even challenge yourself doing the Grouse Mountain grind then return to the hotel and enjoy your Spa package which includes a $100 gift certificate to use at the hotel's Vida Wellness Spa, a complimentary in-room movie.

Or take a daytrip from Vancouver on a Whistler limousine tour and return to the hotel for the Romance package that includes complimentary wine, chocolates and breakfast in bed.

Like other downtown Vancouver hotels and neighborhoods in Vancouver the Sheraton Vancouver Wall Centre has been cast in a movie filmed in Vancouver.

Did you see the movie X-Men: The Last Stand? The hotel was in that movie.
