Sala Thai Vancouver
Sala Thai is where food lovers come for delicious dining and for a cultural experience of Thailand.
It wouldn’t be unusual for you to go to the restaurant and encounter a food carving demonstration or some other form of live entertainment. What you'll find when you go is a cozy space filled with upholstered teak and rattan furnishings. There’s also a huge elephant carved from teak and artwork on the walls from the Thai countryside. The restaurant’s chefs prepare traditional classics using fresh local ingredients and they also bring in special imports of lemon grass and other touches. Thai food is a complicated mixture of styles and tastes from all over Asia with lots of influence from its neighboring countries India and China. Highlights on the menu include papaya salad and Golden Angel Wings…boneless chicken wings filled with seafood, meat, vegetables and vermicelli noodles. If you love red curry like I do try the Gaeng Pa-Nang it’s roast duck sautéed in red curry with coconut cream, ground peanuts and basil leaves. And for dessert there’s homemade coconut ice cream and sticky rice with mango. Sala Thai has hosted many celebrities the restaurant is right across the street from the Sutton Place Hotel where lots of movie stars like to go and they’ll often wander in for a meal. Sala Thai has also served the Thai royal family on their visits to Vancouver and the government of Thailand has named Sala Thai one of the top five Thai restaurants outside of the country With more than 5,000 places to eat, Vancouver is considered one of the top places on the continent to have a meal out for both variety and quality.
