Pitt Meadows
Pitt Meadows is part resort and golf course heaven and part rural farming area and you’ll find it just 45 minutes east of Vancouver (pronounced “Vancoover”) proper. This community is tucked in among magnificent mountains, pastoral farmland, quiet streams and rivers and greenhouses full of fresh cut flowers and other specialty items. The local people are very friendly and don’t hesitate to say hello or good morning. Pitt Meadows is largely flood plain and it’s becoming know for its’ eco-tourism recreation. In this quiet little area you’ll see people cycling or taking their daily stroll along the dykes and walking their dogs. Just past the town is Pitt Lake, a popular place to fish for trout or salmon and a wonderful place to take out a canoe or a jet ski if you want to take the adventure up a notch. A lot of people in Vancouver who own horses board them out here at boarding stables and come here to ride on the weekends or spend time hiking the area behind the lake or bird-watching at the wildlife refuge... ... while others go and play a round of golf at one of the four full size golf courses right alongside cranberry and blueberry farms. For even more adventure, go out to the regional airport for skydiving. And, while it’s not exactly a fully furnished downtown Vancouver hotel room that you’ve rented for the weekend, Pitt Meadows offers its own “country” version... ... fully furnished with deer and black bear and a natural symphony of light of its own all you have to do is look up and see the stars (when it’s a clear night that is!). ...Return often for more exciting information on many more of Vancouver's best things to do, sights to see and local attractions.
