Olympics Memorabilia for the 2010 Games

Have you got your Olympics memorabilia yet?

A great way to show your support for the Olympic Games 2010 in Vancouver and Whistler is by purchasing some Olympics memorabilia.

Getting your Olympic merchandise early shows everyone how excited you are and how much you support the games and the athletes.

With just over three months before the start of the winter games you don't want to leave it too long before purchasing your Olympic merchandise and risk being disappointed because the item you want is sold out.

Remember the 1998 Nagano Games when a little Canadian Company called Roots designed the Canadian Team uniforms…

As soon as Canada won its' first medal the sales of Olympic merchandise and memorabilia began flying off the shelves. The store could barely keep up with the demand for souvenir Olympic hats and there were line ups all down the street at the Roots store on Robson Street in downtown Vancouver.

Even if you think you don't want anything for yourself you can pick up something small like a pin or a key chain to mail to friends.

Your thoughtful gift may even inspire them to visit Vancouver to see our beautiful city and sight-see top attractions like Granville Island and Grouse Mountain.

Vancouver in winter

You may be surprised how delighted they will be like a friend of mine was when I sent her one of the first sweatshirts of the Jamaican Bob sled team from the Calgary Olympics in 1988.

Purchasing Olympic merchandise not only shows your team spirit it also gives you a chance to experience a sense of being a part of something.

Many Canadians are extremely proud of the fact that this will be the third Olympics to be hosted by Canada. In 1976 the games were held in Montreal and in 1988 the games were held in Calgary.

There are at least 200 hundred items to choose from including clothing, jewelry, accessories, collectables and plush toys ranging in price from $4.99 to $2999.00.

Some items show the interlocking Olympic rings which represent passion, faith, victory, work ethic and sportsmanship.

Other items feature images such as ilanaaq (the mascot logo), Olympic mascots Quachi, Sumi, Miga and their sidekick Mukmuk, the Maple Leaf and the various winter games sports events.

Some people get very enthusiastic about collecting certain items like pins. For some avid collectors the thrill of searching for and finding their special sought after pieces of Olympics memorabilia and merchandise generates as much adrenaline as the athletes do who are competing in the games.

No one likes to be ripped off including the organizers of the Olympics so make sure you are buying genuine Olympic merchandise.

Two handy places to get your Olympic merchandise are The Olympic Store at The Bay downtown Vancouver or any Bay store for that matter and at any of the Olympic stores and kiosks at Vancouver International Airport.

You will find kiosks throughout the airport in both the domestic and international terminals both before and after you've passed through security.

Of course you can always order on line at the 2010 Olympics Store.
