Moving to Vancouver

Thinking of moving to Vancouver (pronounced "Vancoover")? Well who could blame ya?

Vancouver is blessed with a moderate climate, cultural diversity and natural beauty.

It's not unheard for folks who visit here to leave their hotel room and walk straight into a real estate office or pick up a copy of one of the local newspapers and start looking for an apartment to rent.

Don't even think about living here without a good pair of walking shoes and just know that soon you will become addicted to coffee because there is a coffee shop on every corner and a lot of business and socializing gets done in them.

For starters pick up a map of Vancouver or take some time to drive around the various neighborhoods and soon you will get a sense of what area appeals to you.

As you are looking around the different communities also think about your job search and how far you are willing to commute back and forth to work.

Three sides of Vancouver are surrounded by water and there are several bridges throughout the city. The trick is to learn the bridges and where they lead.

A good way to meet new people with common interests and things to do is to take a class at one of the local community colleges.

As a newcomer moving to Vancouver you will be in the majority because a large percentage of the people who live here are not from here originally. It's hard to find someone who has lived in Vancouver their whole life.

Before you know it within a few short months you will be calling yourself a Vancouverite!
