Micro-Brewery

Where is the local micro-brewery where can I get a good brew? After a day of sight-seeing and shopping that would be the question and happily I have a few options.

We are a little short of them here there are only four in Vancouver (pronounced “Vancoover) proper.

The first place which is kind of like an attraction as well is the Granville Island Brewery on Granville Island. It also happens to be the original micro-brewery in Canada.

They offer guided tours where you get to see how the beer is made followed by beer tastings every afternoon.

There’s also another micro-brewery on Granville Island called Dockside Restaurant and Brewery...you can sit on the patio here and look out onto False Creek and they’ll even let you smoke a big fat cigar.

Another brewery is Yaletown Brewing Company which is in Yaletown. Yaletown used to be a warehouse district but now its been gentrified and it’s full of trendy loft apartment and high end shops. You may have to wait for your brew though they often have line-ups.

And finally there’s Steamworks Brewing Company in Gastown another great place to meet up with friends to unwind and talk about the sights to see and local attractions you’ve seen.

If this isn’t enough beer for you come in the fall to the Vancouver Brewmasters Festival. This event happens every year at Oktoberfest.
