Lumbermens Arch

Lumbermens Arch Stanley Park Vancouver

Lumbermens Arch is one of several areas around Stanley Park that is quite kid oriented.

The arch itself is made from the trunk of a huge tree and kids love to climb all over it.

But...

The archway itself is a reminder of the old growth trees that at one time were logged out of the local Vancouver area and it is at least 40 feet high and would take about 7 people holding hands to surround it's base and if someone were to tumble off the top they would be landing on cement.

Right at Lumbermens Arch there's is a water-park with sprinklers and a waterfall that's a great summertime activity for kids and a popular one.

At one time the water-park used to be filled with salt water from the harbour but now-a-days the park uses a fresh water supply.

Water starts flowing in the park usually from Victoria Day until Labour Day. (May 22nd-September 4th)

You’ll also find park washrooms here and a convenient concession stand or if you prefer there’s lots of grassy area for stretching out to relax and enjoying a packed lunch.

The Vancouver Symphony Orchestra sometimes holds free outdoor concerts at Lumbermens Arch. And, if you know a concert is being held that day you can catch them in the afternoon while they rehearse before the thousands of people packing blankets and chairs come out for the main evening entertainment.
