Lighthouse Park

Lighthouse Park is a real rugged West Coast park so you won’t find any sandy beaches here.

It’ll take you about 10 minutes to walk from the parking lot all the way to the Lighthouse Park viewpoint but it’s totally worth the trek because once you get there you will be rewarded with a stunning view of Vancouver Island and the Strait of Georgia.

The way back is mostly uphill though so it takes a little longer.

Sometimes the trails can be slippery with rocks and mud but it’s best to stay on them anyway because there are some sudden cliffs and drop offs.

Stay on the trail is because it’s actually possible to get lost in here but if you remember to pick up a map of the park at the entrance that shouldn’t be a problem.

The park is 5 kilometers (3 miles) of trail and it winds all around and throughout the park.

A tip for you is to pack a sweater along with you even if you are visiting the park in the heat of summer because even when it’s scorching hot it can be cool in the forest.

It’s kind of neat to be walking through Lighthouse Park and realize you seeing things that are really special because many of the plants and animals that you might spot here are not found anywhere else.
