Kitsilano
Kitsilano is a Vancouver (pronounced “Vancoover” or “Vankoover”) neighborhood basically right on the water and it goes back years and years and years. It’s a very old part of the city. There’s a great beach here that is called Kits Beach or just Kits.
As you’re going along the main road in Kitsilano (pronounced "kits -a-lie-no") there you’ll see a lot of old apartment buildings on your left side but on your right side where the water is, the beach recedes into cliffs and a lot of parks have been created that over look the water. These are not huge parks just little green spaces where you can sit on the bench there in the sun or under the shade of a tree and just watch the entire world go by, relax in Kitsilano and take a time out of the hustle and bustle of Vancouver’s business community. And if you keep going along that way and you’ll see a couple more beaches. But, back at Kits (Kitsilano) Beach there is a basketball court there where you can see some serious basketball. They have a thing there called the “Three on Three Battle” every year where you see some pretty wicked basketball being played.
In Kitsilano you'll find some great shops and some nice restaurants. From there you can go on 4th Avenue and there's a lot of what we'll call trendy consignment stores. These consignment stores are not junk but very high end clothing that some people may not even have worn at all and they are still in fashion or slightly out but they are in great shape. Keep going along 4th avenue and you'll come down to Spanish Banks and that's another great place in Vancouver to watch the sunsets or to fly a kite or just to kick back on the beach. ...Return often for more exciting information on many more of Vancouver's best things to do, sights to see and local attractions.
