Grouse Mountain

Grouse Mountain is a local Vancouver(pronounced "Vancoover") ski hill located only 15 minutes away from the downtown.

You can escape to this year round playground every single day of the year.

This major attraction is not only a ski hill it's also a refuge and a home for endangered wildlife such as orphaned grizzly bears and a pack of mature grey wolves who were born and raised in captivity.

In the winter time people go up to Grouse Mountain for skiing, snowboarding and sleigh rides and in the summer it's a great place to hike, take panoramic photos of the city and take in a wildlife show.

During the summer months they often have choir singers, musicians and some times even an orchestra (not the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra but close) at the top of the mountain playing classical music.

There are a few different ways to the get to the top. Take the gondola ride, which will whisk you away to the top of the mountain in under 10 minutes.

For extra adventure, you can also helicopter up and then paraglide down or take the zip line.

In the evenings it can be a very romantic place to go for dinner and watch the sunset on top of the mountain.

It's also an amazing place for a small wedding.

Friends of mine met while climbing the grind (the story goes she passed him and then wouldn't stop talking).

Anyway, they ended up having their wedding on the balcony of one of the spaces you can rent and then a sit down catered dinner and dancing complete with fireworks at the end of the evening.
