Getting Around Vancouver Bus or Rental Car

Hi,

I am visiting Vancouver in early September and trying to figure out if I need a rental car.

I am staying in Richmond and am planning on doing alot of stuff downtown but also interested in going to the Grouse Mountain.

Trying to figure out if it is worth the hassle of a car, or take the long trek on the public transportation.

You don't really need a car to get around in Vancouver. The skytrain, buses and seabus will get you to pretty much anywhere you need to go throughout the lower mainland especially downtown.

The new Canada Line skytrain route gets you from Richmond to downtown Vancouver in half and hour. It would probably take you that long anyway trying to navigate in our traffic.

Once you're downtown you can walk to a lot of places or catch a bus to any of the major attractions like English Bay, Stanley Park, Science World, Granville Island for example.

To get to Grouse Mountain take the skytrain into downtown get off at the very last stop which is the seabus terminal…transfer to the seabus that will take you to Lonsdale Quay and then transfer to bus #236.

You can always use the Vancouver public transit website translink to plan your trip. It will show you the shortest route, how long it will take to get there and how much it costs.
