Community Colleges in Vancouver
Community colleges in Vancouver (pronounced "Vancoover") are a popular destination with international students who come here to study and improve their English.
That's because they are an affordable option to larger facilities and usually offer a lot of the same classes and programs as traditional colleges. You may eventually decide to get a master's degree from one of Vancouver's two public universities either The University of British Columbia or Simon Fraser University. But, starting out at a community college can help save you money. A great thing about community colleges is class schedules are often flexible and you'll find classes offered at night as well as during the day. So, as an international student coming to Vancouver to study you could schedule classes around other learning opportunities outside of class like the park or the beach. Before signing up for classes it's a good idea to talk with someone from the college. This can save a lot of time and frustration later on if you can really make sure the class is really the right one for you. I did this once and they actually lent me books over the summer to help prepare for classes that were starting in the fall. There are quite a few community colleges in Vancouver so make sure you take a look around and do a bit of research before you decide which one you would like to go to. Most community colleges have a website where you can go and see pictures of the campus and view the classes they offer as well as the schedules. ...Return often for more exciting information on many more of Vancouver's best things to do, sights to see and local attractions.
