Cloverdale
Cloverdale was first settled in the late 1800’s and got its’ name because of all the wild clover that grew everywhere. This thriving farming town about an hour from downtown Vancouver (pronounced “Vancoover”), is well worth a day trip for farm fresh produce in season. But... The community is well known for the annual rodeo where every year for a fun filled long weekend in mid summer the annual Rodeo and Country fair is the main attraction. There’s a parade, midway rides, rodeo events, arts and crafts and home baking. Aside from the rodeo there are plenty of other special events like the old fashion car jamboree, holiday parades and the Blueberry Festival in August. In fact all year round you’ll be able to find tradeshows, animal sporting competitions and swap meets...sometimes Cloverdale is called the antique capital of British Columbia so keep your eye out you may spot a gem you simply must have. This "small town" kind of setting is also a popular lower mainland location for the film industry. The business owners are used to having the fronts of their stores made-up for the movies and television series. Some that have been filmed here are Carrie, Cold Squad, StarGate and Smallville. Cloverdale is one of those rare and special little communities where the town folk shop on Main Street and have time for a coffee and a chat. ...Return often for more exciting information on many more of Vancouver's best things to do, sights to see and local attractions.
