Car Rental in Vancouver
Car rental in Vancouver is very simple but you have to understand that not all car rental companies are equal.
When it comes to renting a car in the city, it's best that you don’t rent one from the locations at the Vancouver airport simply because they’ll charge you more money than if you rent a car from your hotel in downtown Vancouver. From your hotel you'll also have the time to call around and ensure that you're get the best possible price that you can. Keep in mind that you don’t even really need to have a car in Vancouver because the public transit if pretty good. From your hotel downtown pretty much everything is within walking distance such as Stanley Park, the seawall, restaurants and many of the sights to see in Vancouver. If you are planning to take short daytrips to places like Horseshoe Bay, Steveston, Victoria, or the Harrison Sandcastles, then you'll want a car rental. One of the places I would suggest for a car rental in Vancouver is National car rental because they often have specials that range from weekly rentals to vehicle upgrades and the staff have always been very helpful.
Some outlets will actually either pick you up at your hotel or drive the car to your hotel and drop it off for you. Car Rental in Vancouver Tips:Usually car rental in Vancouver agreements will require that the same amount of fuel that was in when you rented it is the same as when you drop it off. Otherwise, they will fill it up for you but… they’ll charge you up to three times the cost to fuel it so make sure that you do fuel it up before you return it. You'll also want to be mindful of where you park your car because parking in downtown Vancouver can be some what of an adventure in itself! Should you do get a ticket and don’t pay it, the car rental company will pay it and put it on your charge card for you. I guess you could call it an “added service” depending how you look at it! When possible, try to buy your fuel for your Vancouver rental car out of the downtown core because it will be cheaper that way… which means you have more money to spend in the best restaurants in Vancouver like Shiro, Bin 941, Seasons Hilltop Bistro and the Pink Pearl to name most of my personal favorites!
