Canada Place
In honor of Vancouver’s maritime history Canada Place was built to resemble the promenade of a gigantic ship in full sail.
The deck sports five large distinctive sails that look majestic and commanding against the Vancouver (pronounced "Vancoover") sky. Between May and October luxurious cruise liners on their way up and down the west coast dock alongside the wharf next to Canada Place. Each year more than 300 cruise ships pass through Vancouver. Most are bound for Alaska. Inside is the Vancouver Trade and Convention Centre. Large conferences, trade shows and special events are held here. The Trade and Convention center can look after groups of up to 10,000 people. Upstairs is a restaurant with a view of the North Shore across the water.
When an event isn’t going on, the restaurant is quite a peaceful place to relax and listen to the smooth soothing sounds of live piano music being played. It’s a great way to unwind and catch your breath as you sip on some refreshment or have a meal. The Trade and Convention Center is also where you will find the C.N. Imax Theatre which is just simply huge. Here you can watch stories about space or visit exotic corners of the world on a five story tall screen with six channels of wrap around sound that make you feel like you are in the picture. There are also some classy shops conveniently located for the cruise people and conference goers to find souvenirs and downstairs you will find a food fair. ...Return often for more exciting information on many more of Vancouver's best things to do, sights to see and local attractions.
